Week 8 Forum Questions:

Topic 1: 1. There are lots of books on that list that I do know about but the one that kept coming up again that I have read was "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I personally never read the "Twilight" series or the "Hunger Games' series but I do know a lot of people who did read the books while I was in school. My wife also read part of both of those series and said she really enjoyed reading them. While in middle school, I was a bit intrigued of what "Twilight" was about and had a classmate tell me a few things about the book. I thought it was strange but didn't think it was anything at the time and still to this day that it should be something banned or challenged. "To Kill a Mocking Bird" I thought was a really good book that we read in high school. Yes it was violent and it was racist but it was very historically accurate in how things were in that day. The book put things bluntly and plainly of what happened to those who

Week 5: Forum Questions

Topic 1: What I found most interesting was how long and often material/songs have been used in the making of other songs. Society using other material for being able to make their own ideas of creativity has been going on for years, it is not a modern thing happening. One thing they mentioned was how Led Zeppelin and Muddy Waters used the same lyrics, just with a different style and beat (14:25).  I personally think it was great because it allowed creativity from different talented artists and creators to be able to change up and connect with different people in society in a new way. Freedom of expression is meant to allow people to think outside the box to connect with people in society to change the world for the better. If copyright prohibits creative people taking what was a good idea in the past and changing to connect with more people to change the world, then society is stuck. Examples I can relate into my own life is when I use to listen to Weird Al Yankovic. Weird Al is a

Media Blog Project 1

The advertisement that I have chosen to do my project on is the "What do you know about Meth" by Meth Project. Describe : The ad I watched was about a young adult who was desperate to get his fix of Meth. The video starts out in slow motion with a close up of a young boys face with a little bit of a bright white light behind him. His face begins with a sad and worried look but as the slow motion continues on, his face changes into something more terrified as also it shows him falling into glass. Glass shards and books fall around and on this young boy. During of all this slow motion part of the video, there is a voice over speaking of a young man in a depressed and sad tone asking questions. The camera turns of the boy and onto a young man you figure out is his older brother. The older brother is tearing apart, ripping through, and knocking over everything in his younger brothers room. The voice over stops and you hear the older brothers voice yelling at his younger brot

Week 3: Forum Questions

Topic One: I used Facebook to do my brand search. The brand I ended up searching was the company Nike. I chose Nike because I have always been a fan of there athletic footwear and clothing styles. When I searched Nike in Facebook, the first thing that cam up was a video. This video was describing how Nike is doing more to leave more of their footprint in the World Cup. It stated that Adidas is the number one brand when it comes to soccer and the World Cup, having their logo on jerseys, shoes, official game soccer balls, and other equipment. Nike though is catching up to be the next big brand in this sport because they are focusing on advertising through famous players in soccer instead of product. It brought up the statistic that almost more than half of the world watches the World Cup and that number is increasing in the United States. With big numbers such as those, that is more of an opportunity Nike has to sell their merchandise to all over the globe. To have this be first video

Week 2: Forum Questions

Topic 1: The 3 organizations that I follow on Instagram are: "NBA", "Utah Jazz", and "LDS Church". I have chosen these 3 organizations to follow because they have all at some point have played a part in my life. I follow the NBA because basketball has always had a big influence in my life. I have played since I was very young and have always enjoyed playing. With basketball being such a big influence, I loved watching NBA players do remarkable things with the basketball and other things on the court. Though I could not really do a lot of the things they could do myself, it did help me understand somethings of what I could do to improve my game. NBA players play a big part in society because they are role models to those who also enjoy watching them. I follow the Utah Jazz because they are my local area NBA team and have enjoyed the way they carry themselves as a team. They don't need really any big superstars to do well in the league. I also enjoy s
